What it is

Solana's stake, made visible.

StakeOcean draws every Solana validator with active stake as a vortex in a live fluid simulation, so you can see at a glance how stake is spread across the network — who holds the most, what they charge, who has stopped voting, and how the current epoch is progressing. Every number behind it comes from Solana mainnet and refreshes on its own.

What you're looking at

How to read the water

Each visual in the ocean is tied to one on-chain quantity. The light shimmer on the water is the only part that is pure decoration.

Vortex size
One vote account with active stake. Its radius and spin strength grow with the square root of its stake, and bigger validators get stronger, brighter dye.
Colour
Commission, from 0% through ≤5%, ≤10% and over 10% to 100% — the share of staking rewards the validator keeps.
Gold ring
A member of the superminority: the smallest group of validators that together hold more than a third of all stake.
Coral, pulsing
Delinquent — the RPC reports this validator as not voting recently. Its dye turns coral and its marker pulses.
Position
A sunflower spiral by stake rank, largest at the centre. Distance means rank, not geography or data centre.
The tide
Progress through the current epoch. The waterline rises from the sea floor at the start of an epoch to the surface at its end; the gauge on the right gives the percentage, slot and time left. The swell is strongest mid-epoch.
Currents
The upper band flows east with last epoch's activating stake; the lower band flows west with deactivating stake. Their strength follows the stake-history numbers in the legend.
Puffs
Now and then a bright puff rises from a validator that gained stake since last epoch, or a dark one from a validator that lost it — only when this server has two epochs to compare.

Drag across the water to stir it. Tap or click a vortex for its card: active stake, share, commission, vote credits per SOL against the cluster median, and the change since last epoch.

Vortex
One vote account with active stake. Size and spin strength grow with the square root of its stake. Positions follow a sunflower spiral by stake rank — they are not geographic.
Tide
Progress through the current epoch, from getEpochInfo. The waterline rises from the sea floor at the start of an epoch to the surface as it ends.
Currents
The upper band flows with last epoch's activating stake, the lower band against it with deactivating stake. Per-validator changes come from epoch-by-epoch snapshots kept by this server.
Burn
An SPL token instruction, signed by your wallet, that destroys tokens permanently. Burning for a report unlock gives no return, revenue share or financial right; it is not a payment to anyone.
Names
Self-reported in on-chain validator-info accounts. Anyone can publish a name; treat it as a label, not an endorsement.

The tide

Stake coming in, stake going out

Each epoch, delegations activate and deactivate in waves. Above the line: stake that was activating; below: stake that was deactivating. The line traces the cluster's effective stake. Source: the on-chain stake-history sysvar.

How it works

One quiet loop beneath the surface

A single scheduler on the server reads the cluster at a gentle pace and every browser shares the result. Searching, hovering and stirring cost the network nothing.

  1. 1

    Solana mainnet

getEpochInfo every minute; getVoteAccounts every 5 minutes and right after an epoch ends; recent performance samples every 10 minutes for the epoch's time left; the stake-history sysvar every 30 minutes; inflation and supply hourly; validator-info names twice a day.

  2. 2

    StakeOcean server

Builds one compact list of validators and cluster stats (superminority size, delinquent share, staked share of supply), and records a stake snapshot every epoch so it can compute per-validator currents. About 1.4 RPC calls a minute at rest.

  3. 3

    One shared stream

A server-sent event tells every open page when the ocean changed; pages then fetch the same cached, compressed snapshot. The RPC endpoint never reaches the browser.

  4. 4

    Your browser

WebGL2 runs the fluid; a second canvas draws markers and names. Search and the vortex cards work on the snapshot already in your browser, so what you look up never leaves your device.

What it does not show

  • Stake moves in five-minute steps. Stake and commission come from getVoteAccounts, refreshed every 5 minutes — not slot by slot.
  • Currents need history. Per-validator changes compare two epoch snapshots taken by this server, so they stay empty until it has seen an epoch boundary.
  • Names are self-reported. They come from on-chain validator-info accounts that anyone can publish. Treat them as labels, not endorsements.
  • No individual delegations. StakeOcean shows validators, not the stake accounts or wallets delegating to them.

Validator report

unlock with the coin
  • One page for any validator: stake, share, rank, commission, superminority and delinquency status
  • Up to 64 epochs of vote credits read from its vote account, compared with the cluster median
  • On-chain commission, withdraw authority and last vote time, plus the per-epoch stake and commission history this server has recorded

The coin

Here, the coin is burned, not spent

In StakeOcean the coin does exactly one thing: burning it unlocks validator reports. The burn is an SPL token instruction in a transaction your own wallet signs, so the tokens are destroyed on-chain. Nobody receives them — there is no treasury and no payment to us.

  1. Sign inYour wallet signs a plain-text message naming this site, your address, the purpose and a single-use code. Free, and it cannot move funds.
  2. ReviewThe exact amount — 50,000 tokens — is shown before anything is signed.
  3. BurnThe server prepares an unsigned transaction with your wallet as fee payer: a burnChecked from your own token account plus a memo naming the unlock. Your wallet signs and sends it.
  4. VerifyThe server reads the landed transaction and accepts it only if it succeeded, burned this coin from your wallet for at least the price, is under an hour old and has never been used before.

Burning destroys tokens permanently. It gives no return, revenue share or financial right. The free version stays free.

The coin is coming soon — no contract address has been published yet.

Validator reports

A report card for any vortex

One validator on one page: stake, share and commission, up to 64 epochs of vote credits from its vote account, and the history this server has recorded — saved as a PNG card or printed to PDF. Reports are unlocked by burning the StakeOcean coin from your own wallet; everything else here stays free.

Burn ledger

Unlocks destroy tokens on-chain — nothing is paid to us. Every line links to its transaction.

    What StakeOcean never does

    FAQ

    Good questions

    Is the data live?

Yes, at the pace the data actually changes: epoch progress every minute, stake and commission every 5 minutes (and straight after an epoch ends), the tide chart every 30 minutes, names twice a day. The water itself moves continuously in your browser.

Why is a validator where it is?

Vortices are laid out in a sunflower spiral by stake rank, with the largest at the centre. Position tells you rank, not location — StakeOcean does not map data centres.

Why are the currents or “since last epoch” empty?

Per-validator changes compare two stake snapshots recorded by this server, one per epoch. Until it has seen an epoch boundary there is nothing honest to compare, so those parts stay empty instead of guessing. The cluster-wide tide chart comes straight from the chain and is always available.

    Does it cost anything?

No. The ocean, search, cards, charts and ledger are free and need no wallet. Only validator reports are unlocked by burning 50,000 tokens for 30 days; that one transaction also pays the usual Solana network fee from your wallet.

    Which wallets work?

Any Solana wallet that supports the Wallet Standard with message signing and sign-and-send, with a fallback for Phantom's injected provider. Exploring the ocean needs no wallet at all.

What exactly happens when I burn?

Your wallet signs a transaction that destroys the tokens from your own token account. The server reads it from the chain, checks the coin, amount, signer and age, makes sure it was never used before, and unlocks reports for your wallet. Each burn adds 30 days, and every accepted burn is listed in the public ledger with a link to its transaction.

Can I use it on a phone?

Yes. The ocean starts at a lighter simulation tier on touch screens, and tapping a vortex opens its card at the bottom of the screen. To sign in on mobile, open the site in your wallet app's built-in browser.
